Autumn can't come too soon...

I've been thinking about the future. If all goes well, I might be able to retire before this decade is out. As soon as that happens, I'm heading for the cooler climes of the Pacific Northwest. Or maybe England or Scotland.
In the meantime, I stay indoors as much as possible and turn down the tempature on the a/c.

Cooler weather

We're finally getting some cooler weather. About time. It's November! I hate summer. I get horribly depressed. Reverse Seasonal Affective Disorder. I long for when I can move to the Pacific Northwest.

As I was saying...

It's been over a year since my last post. I sort of forgot about this blog. Let's see if I can do better now.

Things are just going along for me. I'm still working as a cataloger. The most exciting thing is that I get to take a trip soon to Canada. Vacation time can't come too soon.

It's been a while...

Boy, I haven't been here since Spring. And I confess that I've missed it lately. I really must be better about posting.

In the meantime...

HALLELUJAH!!! We'll be getting adults back in the White House! Not overgrown, overaged, malicious, perpetual children in charge!!!!!

On January 20, 2009, Barack Obama takes charge.

Thank you, Lord!

Spring Cleaning #30: Take a Load Off Our Drives

Finally I'm at the last Spring Cleaning assignment.

I created a folder on the S: drive, place our new department pic into it, and then deleted the whole thing.

And I have cleared off many old and personal files from my Z: drive. I'm ashamed to say that there was way too much stuff on there. I brought in my CDs to copy files to and then deleted the originals from the Z. I still have a few things to do as far as a couple of old avatars that I rotate for my blog and 2 or 3 library-related pics, but things are looking much better. Great idea to have everyone sweep their corners of the web!

Spring Cleaning #29: Email

I've just been through my Outlook inbox and cleaned out so many old emails! I couldn't believe how bad I'd been. Last year I'd cleaned up quite a bit, but I'd been very neglectful since November. I still want to go through the folders, move things around a bit, and add more contacts to my address book. But so far, so good.

Spring Cleaning #28: Don’t Clutter Up Expensive Cyberspace

I'm one of those people who put off spring cleaning until ... well, until. But I do see the need for keeping files cleaned out and off the main server. So I will be doing my best to keep up with all that cyberspace.

The article on GTD (Getting Things Done) gives lots of practical information and suggestions about just that. I'm about half done with cleaning out my Outlook inbox. Can't believe some of the stuff I just didn't get around to deleting! But I'm most interested in the "6 different levels of focus." My sister is a long-range goal person, but I've always been more about just a few months down the road. I'm going to try the 6 levels and see how they work for me.

I've started the Google Calendar and have April events posted. Now if I can remember to check it! I've also started the Ta-Da list for things I want to do when I finally get to Great Britain. (My fingers are crossed for next spring!) I'm listing absolutely everything because I'm afraid I'll forget something! Everything from Westminster to The Mousetrap.
